Check out the Wicket java web framework http://wicket.sourceforge.net/Introduction.html. Looks like it is quite simple to use compared to JSP (no separation of concerns) and even Tapestry (my experience is with Tapestry 3.0, rumor has it that Tapestry 4.0 will use annotations (Java 1.5), and will be easier to use).
